The fear - don’t worry it’s very common!!

The fear of flying stems from a very natural origin. You may know or be told how safe flying commercially is. It’s true, but why are many people still afraid?

1. Humans have spent most of their existence on the ground. Humans have only been flying for a very short period of history and all of our senses have developed based on the ground-based function. Flying through the air is therefore not a natural environment, this is not helped by the height and the speed of a commercial aircraft and the fact that the space on board is fairly enclosed.

2. Feeling a lack of control. Unlike your car, in a commercial aircraft there is a large disconnect between the passengers and the pilots, and as a passenger there is a feeling that you are putting your lives in pilots' hands. In reality the pilots work as part of a big team when it comes to the safe operation of the aircraft and this will be covered in our course.

3. Aircraft and the airline’s operational procedures have so many safety systems built in, and their company culture and philosophy will put safety first, but as a passenger you might not be aware of these safety systems. On our course, not only will you learn about them, but you will also get to experience them and you will leave with a much greater understanding and confidence in the safety systems in place.

What to expect:
- Each course will be 3 hours 30 mins in duration, which will include a 30 min break
- The course will have 2 hours of interactive learning and a 1 hour simulator demonstration flight where all participants will have a chance to take the pilot's seat
- Every course will be delivered by a professional airline pilot
